Disney revealed the lineup of honorees who will receive the Disney Legends Award, the company’s highest honor. The Disney Legends Award ceremony will take place on the final day of the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, taking place August 14-16 in Anaheim, California.
Emmy-winning television host Ryan Seacrest will return as the host of the ceremony that will take place on Sunday, August 16, at 1:30 p.m. PT at the Honda Center. The ceremony will also be available to stream on Disney+.
The honorees include former chairman and CEO Bob Iger, who spent two decades at the helm of the Walt Disney Company; Susan Egan, Dwayne Johnson, Anne Hathaway, and Alan Tudyk, who brought Disney characters to life onscreen and onstage; The Jonas Brothers, who shaped a generation of Disney music; Lin‑Manuel Miranda, who wrote songs for modern Disney movies; and Eric Goldberg, who animated beloved characters.
They are joined by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, sports broadcaster Chris Berman, and Walt Disney Imagineering’s Kim Irvine.
The Disney Legends Awards program is a 39-year tradition of the Walt Disney Company, which began when Fred MacMurray, known for roles in The Shaggy Dog and The Absent-Minded Professor, was honored in 1987. Including this year’s honorees, there are a total of 329 Disney Legends, including Dame Julie Andrews, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Dame Angela Lansbury, Alan Menken, Idina Menzel, and the Sherman Brothers.
